Both cities are amazing in their own right, but if you can only visit one, I recommend starting with Bruges. Its fairy-tale ambiance and compact size make it perfect for exploring on foot, allowing you to soak in its beauty at a leisurely pace.
If time permits, I highly recommend visiting both Bruges and Ghent, as each offers a unique glimpse into Belgium's rich cultural heritage and is sure to leave you spellbound.
